Betty Sadler

Betty Sadler, 82, of Perry, Oklahoma was the daughter of Leonard Albert and Louise A. West Shaffner. She was born July 12, 1926 at Hominy, Oklahoma and died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Perry Memorial Hospital. After the death of her mother, Betty was raised by her father and step-mother, Thelma Slamans Shaffner. She attended St. Louis Indian School in Pawhuska, Oklahoma through the 8th grade and then attended high school at St. Scholastica Academy, a private girls' school, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas where she graduated in 1944. She attended Oklahoma AM for two years and while there, met the love of her life, J.D. Sadler, in biology class. On August 21, 1946, she and J.D. Lauvell Sadler were married at Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Betty moved to Perry from Stillwater 55 years go. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bridge. Betty was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the Altar Society, various bridge clubs and the Goof Day Girls. She was an avid gardener. Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Tom Dowdell will officiate. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. In addition to her husband, J.D., Betty is survived by five sons, Mike Sadler and his wife, Pam, of Norman, Oklahoma, Lenny Sadler and his wife, Linda, and Tony Sadler and his wife, Brenda, all of Amarillo, Texas, and Mark Sadler and his wife, Mary, and Danny Sadler and his wife, Meredith, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Mary Louise Dolezal and her husband, John, of Perry, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
