Bennie Wayne Rogers, 70, of Perry, Oklahoma was the son of Bennie Eldridge and Ella Matilda Symank Rogers. He was born May 17, 1938 in Wichita Falls, Texas and died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at the Edmond Medical Center in Edmond, Oklahoma. Bennie was a graduate of Valley View High School in Valley View, Texas. In 1955, he was one of fourteen 4-H members chosen from the state of Texas to participate in a mission trip to Korea to deliver livestock and clothing. On May 22, 1958, he and Leta Josephine Cokendolpher were married in the Valley View Methodist Church in Valley View, Texas. In 1987, Bennie and his wife moved to the Perry community from Kenai, Alaska. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Company in 1996 after 32 years of employment. Following his retirement, he was involved in farming and ranching. He was a member of the Noble County Cattleman's Association. Bennie was instrumental in organizing the Rock Township Volunteer Fire Department and the North Central Range Improvement Association. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends, fishing and helping others. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Pastor Russ Hughes will officiate. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009 at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or the charity of the donor's choice in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. In addition to his wife, Leta, Bennie is survived by three sons, Jerry Rogers and his wife, Renee, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Gary Rogers and his wife, Sabrina, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma and Terry Rogers and his wife, Wendy, of Williston, North Dakota; and seven grandchildren, Daniella Rose Rogers, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bennie Ray Rogers, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Samuel Mitchell Rogers and Sara Jo Rogers, both of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; and Elizabeth Bai Rogers, Samantha Josephine Rogers and Cody Allen Rogers, all of Williston, North Dakota . He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Eldridge Rogers; mother, Ella Matilda Symank Rogers; father-in-law, Oscar William Cokendolpher; and mother-in-law, Vivian Josephine Goree Cokendolpher.
