Barbara Alice (Bullard) Brunken was born on July 4, 1937 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was the oldest child of Ray and Alice Louise (Helms) Bullard. She went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Barbara attended Garber schools, graduating as Valedictorian of the class of 1955. She attended Phillips University before being united in marriage to Richard Brunken of Garber, in 1959.
Barbara and Richard spent the majority of their marriage on their farm southwest of Ponca City. Barbara was a loyal farm wife, loving mother of two children and dedicated church member. After Richard’s death in 2003, she returned to Garber.
In her later years, Barbara enjoyed reading, watching television, and especially spending time with family and friends. Her caring and loving nature touched all those around her. She will be deeply missed.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her son, Alan and her brother Don Bullard. She is survived by her daughter, Anna and husband Jerry Grosz of Garber; her grandchildren Emma and Max Metcalf of Stillwater, Karl and Kristen Grosz of Cedar Park, Texas and Laura and Timmy Ramseyer of Oklahoma City; two great-granddaughters, Everly and Zoey Metcalf, and her sister Linda Hutcheson of Enid.
Many thanks to all those who prayed for Barbara during her illness, to friends and family for their love and support, and especially the nurses and aides at the Oklahoma City Integris Hospice House for their loving care during her final days.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Garber, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara’s honor to a charity of your choice, or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org.
