On January 6, 2016, Ashlea Elaine Jerome-Barber entered into Heavens gates. Ashlea was born on 12-9-1985 in Stillwater, OK. She attended Moore schools and graduated from Moore High School in 2005. Ashlea is survived by her loving husband, Royce. Royce and Ashlea were married on 9-10-11 in Colorado Springs, and an additional ceremony with her Oklahoma family on 11-11-11 at the Vassar Church in Mulhall, OK.
She is survived by her mother and step-father Beverly and Joel Wood, Guthrie; her father and step-mother Darren and Barbara Jerome, Newcastle. Paternal grandparents Norma and Lyle Jerome; Maternal grandmother, Elaine Maginnis; Sister Aubrie and brother-in-law Frank Howell; Sister Alexis Williamson; Sister and brother-in-law Cassie and Creed Robinson, Sister and Brother-in-law Trena and Jimmy Settle, brother and sister-in-law Brian and April McCauley and brother Matthew McCauley, brother and sister in-law Noel and Melissa Barber, and 11 Nieces and Nephews.
Ashlea was a fighter. She endured more surgeries and procedures than one could count. She always kept a positive attitude, even when facing the most difficult situations just to survive. She was brave, much braver than all her parents and caregivers combined. When her heart could take no more, she was referred to St. Louis Children's Hospital in 2004 for a heart transplant and received "Laura's heart", a donor from Romania. Ashlea reached out to the donor family and thanked them for her gift and assured everyone of her great responsibility to do everything in her power to take good care of her new heart. Taking care of herself became her top priority. Even in her weakened condition the day before she passed away, she talked to her grandpa to be sure she had a ride arranged to get her to her Dr. appointment to take care of "Laura's heart".
Ashlea enjoyed reading and watching movies. She was a big Harry Potter fan. She especially liked to watch The Golden Girls. She loved polar bears and was an avid Facebooker, liked to crochet and loved her animals; Buddy the cocker spaniel, and cats Cleo and Tigger. Most of all, Ashlea loved being a wife and adored her husband Royce, the love of her life.
Ashlea touched many people's lives with special relationships. From her cousins, to facebook friends, to doctors and nurses, other patients and their parents, everyone was friends with Ashlea and she will be sorely missed by those who knew her and loved her.
