Art Deken, 82, was born on April 15, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan and died Saturday, July 9, 2005 at his home. He was the son of Mike and Anna Wagoner Deken. A private family service will be held. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Boy Scouts Troop 12 of Perry in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, OK 73077. There will be a family visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. He was a 1940 graduate of Saginaw High School in Saginaw, Michigan. Art married Geraldine Elizabeth Sams on May 20, 1941 in Newton, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 1, 1990. Art was a member of the United States Air Force. He served his country during World War II. He enjoyed making things to improve the land and its surroundings. Art was affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was the founder of Camp Tan Da Ko at CCC Lake. He was an Eagle Scout and vigil member of the Order of the Arrow and received the Silver Beaver Award. Art worked for the City of Perry and then for Ditch Witch, where he worked until he retired. Art is survived by two sons, Jim and John; two daughters, Mary and Patty and various grandchildren.
