Anna Frances Fran Skalenda, 79, of Midland, Texas, died on Saturday, December 18, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at 11 AM at St. Stephens Catholic Church, with Monsignor James Bridges, pastor, officiating. Rosary services will be held on Monday, December 20, 2010, at 7 PM at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Midland. She was born on December 28, 1930, in Perry, Oklahoma. She married Ron Skalenda on October 18, 1958, in Perry, Oklahoma, they lived in Nocona and Gainesville, Texas, where she attended St. Marys Catholic Church and volunteered as a Cub Scout Den mother. They moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1968, where she was an active member of St. Helena Catholic Church for over 20 years and was a member of the St. Rita Circle of the Altar Society. Fran volunteered in Parish School, served as a Troop Leader and Cookie Chairman for the Girl Scouts for many years. After moving to Midland in 1989, she was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and served for years as a volunteer for Helping Hands of Midland, where she was recognized for her volunteer services. She will be remembered by her family, friends, and community for her faith, her kind heart, and her giving Spirit. Survivors include her husband, Ron Skalenda of Midland, TX her children, Bill Skalenda and wife Paula of Plano, TX, Kevin Skalenda and wife Kendra of Odessa, TX, Laurie Skalenda of Tucson, AZ, Robbie Skalenda of Dallas, TX, Rona Coleman and husband David of West Memphis, AR, and Julie Chavaria and husband Bubba of Hobbs, NM seven grandchildren, Chris Skalenda of Boulder, CO, Jamie Garza and husband Michael of Odessa, TX, Jordan, Marrissa, and Isaiah Chavarria, and Benjamin and Adam Coleman two great grandchildren, Aubrey Brycen Garza two brothers, Emil Rolling and wife Carolyn of Kemp and Leroy Rolling of Perry, OK two sisters, Dorothy Chrz and husband Frank of Perry, Oklahoma and Mary Ann Coppage and husband Barry of Houston, TX and an aunt, Vina Wagner of Perry, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents a sister Josie Beckham and two brothers, Clarence and Nicholas Rolling.
