Bernhardt Arthur Henke, better known as Bennie, passed away on November 25, 2017 at the age of 78.
Bennie was a man of great character. With an infectious laugh, he could turn a bad day into a good day with that factor alone. He was always upbeat and positive to those he met and was never able to turn a blind eye to anyone in need. He loved to help people who needed it either with physical labor or by just sitting and listening. He never asked for anything in return and never expected it from anyone, he just enjoyed helping. He loved cattle and horses and spent his life trying to raise the best cattle and horses he could. His hobbies included watching OSU and Dallas Cowboys football as well as watching bull riding and saddle bronc riding, which he considered an art. While in high school he participated in the latter two, much to the horror of his mother. He was a loving husband, father, and grand father who spent his entire adult life with his loving wife Iva whom he was married to for 60 years. In the course of 60 years he and his wife raised a strong family of one daughter and 3 grand children. He devoted his life to passing on his knowledge to his daughter and grand kids whom all held him in the highest regard. In his later years he was blessed with 4 great grand children who were the apple of his eye and could do no wrong. His family meant everything to him, he was extremely proud of them and took every opportunity to brag about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. He will be forever missed by everyone he touched.
His services will be held that the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, Oklahoma at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Reverend Metz will be officiating.
Bennie is survived by his wife, Iva Henke, a daughter and spouse, Teri and Edwin Debord, 2 brothers, Bruce and Barrie Henke, 3 grand children, Shaun, Jillian, and Cristopher Gibson, and 4 great grand children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernhardt G. Henke and Mae Pauline Henke and a brother, Robert Henke.
The world is going to miss Bennie Henke for sure. A pleasant giving personality is something that is quickly fading away in our world... Bennie was serious about his work, great with people and never demanding anything but good from others.... I'm gonna miss his Smile his Laugh and his great personality...... Steve H. Bunch

I am so saddened to hear of Bennies passing. I have so many great memories of him especially during the time Jim was working on the house. The two of them could have you laughing all the time. I remember so well of Iva always having homemade cookies and a pot of coffee ready when Jim got there to work, then when Shaun was born early in Wichita Bennie and Iva went there to be with Terri. Bennie came back in a few days and when Jim got to the house to work Bennie had a pot of coffee ready and a package of store bought cookies ready and told Jim how hard it was to get the cookies he made into the package. There are many stories I could tell about Bennie but will share them with the family later, I'll keep the family in my prayers.

Bennie was a great man, I know that I am not telling you anything that you don't already know. He was like a grandfather to Matt and he cherished the times that he spent with him. I pray for peace and comfort during this time and the days to come. May God bless and forever keep you!
